Making A Difference Through the Arts
We are asking for your support through our annual campaign.  Unlike our past special events, we won't be offering anything in return except an acknowledgement on all our publications and website, a tax receipt, and our profound thanks.  But the real reward comes from knowing that you helped make a difference in a young person's life.

Why the Arts?
Arts education is central to a youth's individual and social development.  Research shows it raises overall academic performance and builds skills necessary for workplace success.

The arts excel in helping students develop thinking skills, (creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, imagining and imaging, and knowing how to learn); social skills (speaking and listening, cooperative work, capacity to teach others, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, and tolerances for differences); and personal skills (individual responsibility, perserverance, self management, and integrity).

Why Foluke Cultural Arts?
The mission of Foluke Cultural Arts is to provide instruction and exposure to the performing and visual arts arts and arts education for at-risk children and youth.  Foluke Cultural Arts is committed to making performing and visual arts, and arts education available to all, particularly those in 'underserved' areas.  The programming of Foluke is family oriented with focus on at-risk children and youth.  The goal of arts activities is to provide positive alternatives to negative behaviors by instilling discipline, self-pride and boosting self-confidence through self-expression and self discovery.

Our focus will be to continue to inspire an appreciation for the arts while infusing it with Reading and Math.  Foluke Cultural Arts After School Programming is designed to meet the students academic achievement needs and overall well being.  We will continue to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and the community to provide the most effective services to meet the educational needs of our students so that they can become successful citizens
.

Urgent and Growing Need
Too many children are in crisis.  They need safe places to dream, create, experiment, build self-esteem, and do things that feed the soul.  For a few hours a week Foluke Cultural Arts will provide children an avenue to escape difficult circumstances to participate in engaging activites that promote creativity and expression, an appreciation for cultural diversity and improvements in academic achievements.  With the help of your donation we can continue to provide this service
